If you are concerned because a friend or relative is acting differently, consult with a mental health expert. StopBullying.gov recommends using the secure and anonymous Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration search tool to find someone to help.
If you want to learn more about bullying and what you can do to prevent and respond to it, consider the following resources:
· StopBullying.gov provides information and resources from multiple federal government agencies on what bullying is, what cyberbullying is, who is at risk, and how to prevent and respond to bullying. It also has an extensive list of bullying resources.
· Anti-Defamation League has developed anti-bullying and anti-cyberbullying training and curricula for children, educators, and families.
· Common Sense Media has digital citizenship resources and a Cyberbullying Tool Kit for educators, students, and families.
· Not In Our Town is a movement to stop hate, address bullying, and build safe, inclusive communities. It offers short films to spark dialogue, sample anti-bullying materials, and other resources.
· Born This Way Foundation was founded by Lady Gaga and her mother to support the wellness of young people and empower them to create a kinder and braver world. It includes resources on creating positive school climates.
· PACER’s National Bullying Prevention Center works to end bullying. It offers tons of resources, including digital resources for parents, schools, and children, as well as facts on bullying and its impact.
· Facing History and Ourselves has a handy use of resources — from books to DVDs — on bullying.
· Southern Poverty Law Center monitors hate groups and other extremists. In November 2016, it published The Trump Effect: The Impact of the 2016 Presidential Election on Our Nation’s Schools.
